Susie Berry
Susie is a 24 year old Event rider representing Ireland, based in Northampton and competing up to CCI4*
With a yard full of National Hunt mares and foals at home in County Down, Northern Ireland, Susie has been surrounded by horses all her life, so it was inevitable that she would end up working with horses in some way.
In 2014 Susie relocated from Northern Ireland to Northampton to work for and train with with Piggy French at her base in Maidwell, Northamptonshire.
Susie has been fortunate enough to represent Ireland at no less than six European Championship from Ponies through to the Young Riders and this has enabled her travel to compete at some amazing places across Europe and has won gold and bronze medals along the way. Now in the senior ranks Susie already has her eye firmly set on earning a place on the Irish Senior Team.
2019 is going to be busy year, with an exciting string of horses to compete from 4 year olds to CCI4* (Stonedge, Ringwood LB, Carsonstown Athena, John the Bull, Monbeg By Design, Kilcandra Capitol, Carolines Air KM, Wellfields Lincoln and Drumnavaddy Valencia).
The big aim for the 2019 season is Bramham International and the CCI4*(L) u25 Championship with Stonedge, while her younger horse will be aimed at the Young Horse Championships at Osberton with a possibly of being selected for the World Young Horse Breeding Championships at d’Angers Le Lion, France at the end of the season.
Selected as one of three Susie will participate in the Windrush Equestrian Foundation Young Eventer Programme in 2019 receiving mentoring and guidance from some leading figures in the sport of Eventing as she continues to establish herself at CCI4* while seeking the important CCI5* qualification.
Having watched and supported from a distance during 2018 I am looking forward to getting to know and work more closely with Susie during the 2019 season.
